How It Works

Our browser-based image converter uses WebAssembly (WASM) to convert your images locally on your device. Choose your desired output format, optionally adjust quality and dimensions. Your source files never leave your browser.

How to Use

  1. 1

    Upload your images

Drag and drop images into the upload area, or click to select files from your device. You can drop a folder to convert all images inside at once.

  2. 2

Click the Settings panel and select your desired output format: JPEG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF. Adjust quality with the slider, and optionally resize your images.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The Image Converter runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.
Will converting JPEG to PNG increase file size?
Usually yes. JPEG uses lossy compression optimized for photos, while PNG uses lossless compression. Converting a JPEG photo to PNG typically results in a much larger file. For photos, JPEG or WebP are generally better choices.
Which format is best for the web?
WebP offers the best balance of quality and file size for most web use cases. AVIF can achieve even smaller file sizes but may have slightly slower decoding. JPEG remains the most universally compatible format.
What formats can I convert between?
The browser tool supports converting between JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF — any input to any output. Our API also supports GIF and TIFF as input formats.
Is the Image Converter free?
Yes. The browser-based Image Converter is completely free with no sign-in required and no credit charges. Processing happens on your device, not our servers.
