How It Works
Our browser-based image compressor uses WebAssembly (WASM) to process your images locally on your device. Choose between quality-based compression — where you set the desired quality level from 1 to 100 — or target-size compression, where you specify the output file size in kilobytes.
How to Use

Upload your images
Drag and drop images into the upload area, or click to select files from your device. You can even drop a whole folder to compress all images inside at once.

Choose your settings
Click the Settings panel to expand it. Pick your output format, choose between Quality mode (set 1-100) or Target Size mode (specify desired KB), and optionally resize your images.

Compress
Click the Compress button to process all selected images in your browser. Processing happens locally — your files never leave your device.

Download your results
Download each compressed image individually, or use the Download All (.zip) button to get everything in one ZIP file.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. The Image Compressor runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.
- What is the difference between Quality and Target Size modes?
- Quality mode lets you set a value from 1-100 where higher means better quality and larger file size. Target Size mode lets you specify a desired file size in KB, and the compressor will attempt to reach that size automatically.
- What formats can I compress?
- The browser tool supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF as both input and output formats. Our API also supports GIF and TIFF inputs.
- How much can I compress an image?
- Compression depends on the source image content and format. Photos and complex images typically compress well; images with text or sharp edges may show more visible quality loss at aggressive settings. The preview lets you see the result before downloading.
- Is the Image Compressor free?
- Yes. The browser-based Image Compressor is completely free with no sign-in required and no credit charges. Processing happens on your device, not our servers.
